PIECES

PIECES, Sculptural furniture are created from miscellaneous pieces of steel. Each piece is structural which makes every piece equally important.

This style began when someone told me the table I gave them was not sturdy. So I made them a new one that looked like it was going to fall over but was sturdy. This process evolved into "Pieces" It has been described as "Contemporary Antique" although it does not fit in either category. They are not traditionally contemporary and they often seem hundreds of years older then traditional antiques. Pieces are usually finished to look like they have been dug-up from another culture to fit into modern times.

Each work is named for how many pieces are actually used in it's creation. No piece is added solely for esthetic. The process is exhtdgetetlist in that no drawings or plans are made. The creation of the piece largely depends what was happening in that moment of creation.
